Serving the most vulnerable people within Metropolitan Detroit through the Muslim faith, Islamic principles, and a fundamental belief in assisting others.
The Islamic Center of Detroit (ICD) is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt non-profit organization that exists to serve the most vulnerable people within Metropolitan Detroit through the Muslim faith, Islamic principles, and a fundamental belief in assisting others.
Officially opened to the public in January 2000, the ICD offers programming not only to its Muslim constituency but also to the underserved surrounding neighborhoods.
Our programs include youth engagement, educational workshops, and comprehensive social services focused on addressing the needs of our community.
We offer various programs to support our community
Our food pantry provides essential groceries to families and individuals in need, ensuring no one in our community goes hungry.
We offer educational workshops, classes, and resources to support lifelong learning and community development.
From emergency assistance to counseling services, we provide comprehensive support to help community members thrive.
In 2019, we expanded our programming, focusing on supporting families and individuals in need. Through various community efforts, we provided food, shelter, and essential resources to thousands of residents.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, we quickly adapted our services to continue supporting our community while ensuring everyone's safety. Our food distribution program saw a significant increase in demand, and we rose to the challenge.
